1 April – Fools Day

(01.04, 2009) Due to 01 April – Fools Day, a parade has been organized and realized in IBPS in the village Preljubiste. The goal of this parade was to introduce the students to the meaning of this day. The “First-of-April” parade has been organized and realized by the teachers and the students who have made the necessary preparations in the school, where the students wore masks of their favorite characters and after that they went into the school yard and were telling jokes.
After that, the students have presented their masks in front of the local population and the employees in the municipal library.
This “First-of-April” parade has caused a strong feeling of satisfaction at the students and they have also continued telling jokes between them after they’ve returned to the school.

8th of March ceremony organized in honor of the mothers “Dear Mom”

(06.03, 2009) Due to the Women’s Day, 8th of March, a ceremony has been organized and realized on 06.03.2009 in the regional integrated bilingual primary school in the village of Preljubiste called “Dear Mom”.
The goal of this ceremony was celebrating the Day of the Women – Mothers, 08th of March, describing what this holiday means for every mother, initiating positive mood, strengthening the interaction parent – student – teacher, promoting the cooperation with the parents and the families of the students and supporting the children in using the cultural and social phrases in both languages when congratulating the abovementioned holiday.
The ceremony has been organized by the teachers, of course with cooperation and support from the parents. All 24 students from both language and religious integrated groups equally took part in this ceremony through poems, recitals, songs with appropriate choreography on both languages. The students have closed the ceremony with joint congratulations to the mothers on both languages: “Среќен 8ми Март мамо!”, “Gëzuar 8 marsin nënas!”. All this has been supported with strong applauses and satisfied expressions on the faces of all present on the ceremony, that is why we think that the goal of this ceremony has been totally justified.

School workshop "With mom, for mom"

(20.01, 2009) Due to the forthcoming holiday, Women’s Day, on 20.02.09 a joint workshop has been organized and realized in our school titled as “With Mom, For Mom”.
17 mothers, 24 students and 4 teachers took part in this workshop whose main goals and tasks were introduction of the mothers from both different ethnic, religious, cultural and language groups, developing a positive picture for the group, as well as building a feeling for belonging to the group, initiating a positive social and emotional climate within the group, promoting the cooperation, creating applications which will serve as a decoration of the school, making headbands, badges and flowers necessary for the stage where the show will be held on 08 March, 2009.
The students were extremely happy, relaxed, motivated and more secure in performing the given tasks, because they worked and created together with their mothers who were satisfied and willing to further cooperate. Among other things, they suggested organization of similar gatherings and workshops.
For the majority of mothers who were present on this workshop, this was their first experience of such type, which is a clear indicator of the justification of this workshop.

Knut Volebek’s Visit

(29.01, 2009) The integrated bilingual primary school “Fridtjof Nansen” in the village of Preljubiste has been visited by the High Commissioner for National Minorities at OSCE, the Ambassador Knut Volebek. OSCE’s representatives were particularly interested in the way this school is functioning. They have visited the school premises, the working conditions and were especially impressed by the students. Macedonians and Albanians who are realizing the afterschool actiivites together in one classroom. OSCE’s representatives had a short meeting with representatives of the school and representatives of NDC Skopje.

New Year’s Party

(28.12, 2008) The students of the integrated bilingual primary school “Fridtjof Nansen” in the village of Preljubiste have been visited by Santa Clause. In his honor and in honor of their parents and the end of the first semestar of the school year, the students have organized a cultural and artistic program – recital and singing songs. For the successful performance, Santa Clause has given Christmas bags with gifts to all students.

Official visit to the school in Jegunovce

(05.12, 2008) Eva Bueie Nygård - Director of the primary school “Vidarheim” in Oyer Municipality, Norway together with Prof. Steinar Brin - Director of the Nansen Network on the Balkans have visited IDOU “Fridtjof Nansen” on 05 December. Director Nugard had an opportunity to learn about the activities and the way the school is functioning and to talk with the teachers and students about bilingualism and the integration in the school.
In honor of the guests from Norway, on 06 December, 2008 a “Norwegian night” has been organized in the integrated bilingual school dedicated to the Nobel Prize Winner for Peace, Fridtjof Nansen. On this event, part of the inhabitants of Jegunovce municipality who had the opportunity to visit Norway through the activities of NDC Skopje were present, as well as part of NDC Skopje team and Bujanovac - Southern Serbia. The same night, the BBC documentary “Ice King” has been broadcasted, which refers to the exploratory achievement of Fridtjof Nansen in discovering the North Pole. NDC Skopje has announced that such events dedicated to the culture and tradition of Norway will be organized at least once per month in the future.

Study visit to Norway

(25.11 - 02.12, 2008) The teachers in the school and the parents of the students who attend the integrated bilingual school in Jegunovce Municipality have visited Norway from 25 November till 02 December, 2008. The purpose of this study trip was to visit several primary schools in Norway, to exchange experiences about the way the schools are functioning, the volume and quality of the lectures and the curriculum, the conditions where the lectures are being held, the role of the parents in the schools with emphasis on the participation and the voluntary work.
The group had an opportunity to visit the primary school Sore Al in Lillehammer and to attend a performance organized by the students and their teachers. The Director of the school has prepared a presentation about the structure of the school and the primary education in Norway.
During the visit to Norway, the Oyer Municipality (Oyer Kommune) has been visited which is located about 25 km. from Lillehammer. The group has visited the primary school in Oyer and the Director and the Deputy President of the Council of Parents in the school have organized a presentation about the school and the role of the parents in the school. The same day, the group had an official reception at the Mayor of the Municipality, Mari Botterud. After the presentation of the structure and the way the Municipality is functioning, the members of the group had an opportunity to visit part of the premises of the Municipality.
During the visit to Oslo, the primary school Toyen (TOYEN SKOLE) has been visited, where about 390 students from 25 different ethnic communities study. The Director of the school, his Deputy and a representative from the Agency for Development of the Education in Norway have prepared a detailed presentation for the group of parents and teachers about the structure, rules and principles, methodology and use of bilingualism in the lectures.
In the Nansen Academy (Nansenskolen) in Lillehammer, lectures have been held from Prof. Inge Eidsvag on the topic: “How to be a good teacher and the role of the teacher in the school”. Mr. Dag Hareide - Rector of the Nansen Academy has held lectures on the topic: “Mediation as a tool for conflict resolution”. The participants had an opportunity to visit the museums: Hunderfossen and Maihaugen.

(15.10, 2008) In presence of a high delegation from the MFA of the Kingdom Norway, the Macedonian Government and the local self-government, on 15 October technical reception of the reconstructed primary school in the village of Preljubiste has been done.

Beginning of the first school class in IBPS “Fridtjof Nansen”

(01.09, 2008) On 01 September, the first school class has begun in IDOU in the village of Preljubiste, which meant official start of the implementation of the integrated and bilingual program in one primary school in Republic of Macedonia.
